Club bring in super agent to help negotiate deal for rumoured Spurs target

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have both been heavily linked with a potential move for Bruno Fernandes this summer with Sporting Lisbon said to value the player at around £65million (Mirror).

Despite Fernandes’ links to both Premier League clubs, a deal has yet to materialise for the prolific midfielder. Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has revealed that Jorge Mendes is involved in the deal.

Mendes played a key part in taking Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea, Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria to Old Trafford in his role as an agent and has been recruited by Sporting to help them with their negotiations for Fernandes (Express).

“The only firm interest there has really been interest from Spurs although there has been interest from abroad as well,” Solhekol told the Transfer Talk podcast.

“What’s significant now is that Jorge Mendes is involved in the deal.

“Jorge Mendes isn’t actually his agent but he’s been brought in by Sporting to try and get the best possible price for him.

“Of course Jorge Mendes has very, very good links to Manchester United and he knows Ed Woodward very well. They’ve done a lot of business with each other.”
