Club chairman believes Spurs man is being treated unfairly and needs to leave

A new head coach usually means a fresh start at a big club, giving everyone in the squad a chance to impress and change their role within the team.

Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama was left out in the cold by Mauricio Pochettino towards the end of the Argentine’s time in North London.

This came after Wanyama used to be one of the first names on the teamsheet alongside Mousa Dembele back in 2017, while also being a player Poch managed at both Spurs and Southampton.

After a spell of injuries, the Kenyan was unable to find a path back into the starting line-up and has only appeared once for nine minutes under Jose Mourinho too.

The chairman Kakamega Homeboyz, a club in Kenya, has now hit out at the Lilywhites for how they have treated Wanyama recently.

Cleophas Shimanyula also claimed that Wanyama was a key player when Spurs reached the Champions League Final last season.

He said (GOAL): “He doesn’t deserve the treatment he is getting now at Spurs. Clearly, [Wanyama] has helped Spurs and was one of the key players when they reached Champions League final last season and the kind of humiliation he is going through now is not acceptable.

“It is time for [Wanyama] to make up a sober decision but if you ask me, I will tell him to move to another club, the way [Mourinho] is talking means he doesn’t have a future at the club.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I think these comments are a little over the top, as Wanyama clearly simply doesn’t have the legs to compete at the top after his injuries. It’s time for him to leave, but I will always look back on that partnership with Dembele as one of the best in Spurs history.
