Club chief reveals PL sides are ‘knocking at the door’ for rumoured Spurs target

Fiorentina Chief Executive Officer, Joe Barone, has confirmed that several English clubs are interested in signing rumoured Spurs target, Federico Chiesa.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Chiesa for over a year with Tuttomercatoweb reporting back in March 2019 that the winger was on Tottenham’s radar. The Sun also reported last year that the wide man was at the top of the Lilywhites’ wanted list.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed another excellent campaign this time out, managing seven goals and five assists in all competitions (transfermarkt).

The silky left-footer, who prefers playing wide on the right, is also said to be on the radar of Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea, according to Goal.com.

Barone admitted that several clubs from England want the Italian international but insisted that the 22-year-old is happy to stay put at Fiorentina.

Speaking to a Gazzetta Dello Sport (as relayed by Goal.com), the Serie A club’s CEO said: “Chiesa is a Fiorentina player.

“There are clubs knocking at the door for Chiesa, some of them who speak English… We’ll see.

“For the moment, we just need to finish the season and he is very concentrated on doing well for us.

“Chiesa has overcome his physical problems and has returned to being what everyone has already seen. Federico is happy, he has a contract. We’ll see at the end of the season.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Chiesa is a top talent but I think it will be a waste of our transfer funds to spend the kind of money it will take to land him when we can get either Ryan Fraser or Willian on a free transfer this summer. We don’t need to be prioritising a move for a winger.
