Tottenham Hotspur have ‘politely declined’ Portsmouth‘s request to increase their volume of tickets for the upcoming FA Cup third-round tie, the League One club have confirmed.
Pompey have already sold out their 8,800 allocation for the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which takes place on Saturday, January 7, and had asked the north Londoners if they could receive further tickets but saw the request turned down.
In a statement, Portsmouth claim that Tottenham fans are already snapping up their fair share of tickets in the home end which was factored into the decision to keep things as they are.
Tottenham’s last FA Cup meeting against Portsmouth in 2010 was filled full of disappointment after suffering a 2-0 defeat at Wembley in the semi-final in extra time just 24 hours after they had been relegated from the Championship.

Tottenham need to have a good run in the FA Cup, especially having already been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Nottingham Forest and have not won the oldest national football competition in the world since 1991.
A top-four finish and a FA Cup win would be greatly received by many Spurs fans, considering how long it has been since the club last lifted a trophy.
