Club director admits he would not be able to turn down £17m offer for Spurs-linked star

Rubin Kazan’s general director, Rustem Saimanov, has admitted that the Russian club would not be able to turn down a sizeable offer for winger Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is thought to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Kvaratskhelia has emerged as arguably one of the most sought-after young talents in European football since his move to Kazan in the summer of 2019.

The 20-year-old, who is known for his close control and dribbling ability, was reportedly on the wishlist of Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici in the summer.

The winger’s agent even confirmed at the time that the Lilywhites had expressed interest in signing his client.

Kvaratskhelia ended up staying at Kazan and Saimanov insisted back in September that Tottenham did not make an official bid for the Georgian international.

Saimanov has now once again spoken about the winger’s future, admitting the club cannot afford to turn down an offer of €20m (£16.8) for the youngster in January.

The Kazan director told Soccer RU regarding Kvaratskhelia: “What if they (interested clubs) offer 20 million (euros) for him? (Then) I can’t refuse.”

Kvaratskhelia looks like a sensational talent and at 20 years of age, he still has plenty of time to develop. However, his numbers are not all that impressive and given that he is still unproven in any of Europe’s top leagues, signing him would be a gamble.
