Club insider says Tottenham are ‘hopeful’ star player can be fit for Arsenal clash

Tottenham fans need all the good news they can get right now given Destiny Udogie’s injury, and it sounds like the club are ‘hopeful’ Pedro Porro can be back in time for the North London derby next weekend.

Porro has been one of the star performers for Tottenham this season. The Spaniard has two goals and seven assists in his first full campaign with the Lilywhites (Transfermarkt).

With Ange Postecoglou employing a unique inverted full-back system, Spurs have relied heavily on both Porro and Destiny Udogie this season.

Unfortunately, Porro only managed 49 minutes last time out for Tottenham, and is at risk of missing the big North London derby next weekend.

Pedro Porro could be ready for the North London derby

Spurs host Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Sunday in a game which will have a huge say on the Premier League title race and the battle for the top four, too.

Naturally, Tottenham will be keen to have Porro for that game, especially in light of Udogie now being out for the rest of the season. And according to Paul O’Keefe, there is optimism around the club that Porro could be passed fit in time for the match.

On Twitter, one fan asked O’Keefe if there is any update on Porro’s situation ahead of the big derby match, and O’Keefe replied: “Assessing. They are hopeful he makes Arsenal.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I really don’t think I can handle watching a full-back pairing of Emerson Royal and Ben Davies against Arsenal. They do offer us more defensively, to be fair, but Porro has been outstanding and really helps us tick going forward.

I daren’t get my hopes up about Porro being fit for the game, but we have seen players come back from injury quicker than expected this season, so hopefully that’s the case here.
