Club manager claims one box needs to be ticked before Spurs man joins his team

Tottenham Hotspur are always looking to loan out promising youngsters from the academy system in order to grant them first-team football opportunities, and this year was no different.

Tottenham and Bolton Wanderers agreed on a deal that would see winger Anthony Georgiou join the League One side on loan for the rest of the season on the final day of the January transfer window.

However, we are now in late February and the Cypriot has yet to officially join up with his new team, despite being in attendance for their last match against MK Dons.

An injury problem meant that Tottenham chose to hang onto their player and treat him themselves, for the time being, delaying the move to Bolton.

Bolton manager, Keith Hill, has now revealed that there is only one box that needs ticking by Tottenham before Georgiou can join up with his squad, while also adding that the club are encouraged by the 23-year-old’s enthusiasm.

He said (Bolton News): “He has to go through the format that Tottenham want. He was at the game on Saturday and we spoke to him and he’s pushing to come up before he possibly should, but we don’t want to be in the situation where he breaks down.

“We are encouraged by his enthusiasm but we want to get him at the right time where he can sustain training and playing.

“At this moment in time there’s one box that needs ticking off by Tottenham.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

To be honest, Georgiou has been at Spurs for a long time and does not look like breaking into the team. The club either need to release him or sell him. He is 23 now, he should be in a first-team somewhere, not going out on loan every season.
