Club owner speaks out on the future of Tottenham target

Tottenham Hotspur may have been linked with a fair few players this summer, but they have still yet to sign a single fresh face since January 2018.

One man who Spurs have been linked with is speedy Fiorentina winger, Federico Chiesa, who is also said to be a target of Liverpool’s (Tuttomercatoweb).

Chiesa is reportedly worth a whopping £70m this summer, with the 21-year-old also apparently open to a move to London (Sun).

However, if the new Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso has anything to do with it, Chiesa will remain at the club for years to come.

Commisso is said to want to end the selling club mentality at Fiorentina, starting by making a statement and keeping Chiesa.

However, they may have to fend off interest from around Europe, as Chiesa was a stand out player for Italy during their short stint in the U21 European Championships this summer.

The winger scored an impressive three goals in the group stage alone, including a brace against Spain.

Commisso said (Corriere Dello Sport): “I am confident we can keep him at the club and make him become a club icon. He is a symbol for this team.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

It doesn’t matter what the owner says, because if the price tag really is £70m, Tottenham simply will not pay it. The rumours do not sound likely to me, and in terms of value for money I would rather chase other players, including the bargain Jack Clarke.
