Club president reveals huge Spurs target has asked to leave this summer

Tottenham Hotspur may have just received their biggest boost yet in the pursuit of Tanguy Ndombele this summer.

Spurs are still on the hunt to replace Mousa Dembele, who transferred away to the Chinese Super League back in January this year.

The Lilywhites are reportedly in talks with French outfit Lyon over the possible transfer of midfield powerhouse, Tanguy Ndombele (Sky Sports).

Manchester United and PSG are also said to be interested, so time could be of the essence for the North London club.

Jean-Michel Aulas, the Lyon club president, has now revealed that Ndombele has asked to leave the club this summer.

Aulus said (Mirror): “He is seeking a departure. Nothing is done but the door may be open.”

This comes after Lyon confirmed the signing of Jean Lucas today, a likely replacement for Ndombele (Lyon Twitter).

Aulus previously stated that Ndombele would potentially depart when Lyon found a new, young central midfielder to sign, so is that time finally here?

Aulus said last week (Football London): “What I can say to you is if you see a very good box-to-box midfield youngster arrive, in the coming days, then there will be a chance that Tanguy Ndombele leaves, but for the moment, we have not received offers of the level that we feel is a just price.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

While I have been complaining that Tottenham haven’t yet made a big push to sign Ndombele from Lyon, perhaps it was out of Daniel Levy’s hands. For all we know, Lyon may have refused to sell until they brought in a replacement. Now that Jean Lucas has signed, I hope to see some swift Spurs developments,
