Combined XI from Harry Redknapp’s CL run and Pochettino’s current team

Tottenham Hotspur have had a number of great teams down the years, but the best two in my lifetime would have to go down as the Pochettino era and the Harry Redknapp era.

In both these time periods, Spurs punched above their weight in the Champions League and made huge strides in terms of the club’s development.

Both sides also had world-class players, making them a joy to watch on the pitch, especially on those iconic European nights.

I have decided to look at the Harry Redknapp Champions League squad vs the current Poch side to pick by best XI, and boy is it some team.

Hugo Lloris is a must-pick ahead of Gomes I’m afraid, while I have opted for a back three to accommodate some of Spurs’ amazing centre-backs.

I have gone for Jan Vertonghen, Ledley King, and Toby Alderweireld, with Michael Dawson just missing out.

In the centre of the park, a perhaps premature pick of Tanguy Ndombele partners Luka Modric, with the legendary Rafa Van der Vaart further forward.

Bale and Son occupy the wings, with the deadly duo of Harry Kane and Jermain Defoe up front.

There would be goals in this team!
