“Come home” – Some Spurs fans urge striker to return

Tottenham Hotspur strengthened their midfield considerably in the transfer window. While the squad now looks pretty deep, one area of potential concern could be upfront, with the club lacking a back up to Harry Kane.

While Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura have both shown they can lead the line and carry considerable goal threat, they arguably don’t have someone who can relieve the pressure by holding up long balls.

Fernando Llorente performed that role impressively last season, putting in several important performances in Harry Kane’s absence and playing a crucial role in Tottenham’s progression to the finals of the Champions League.

The 34-year-old saw his contract with the club run out this summer but some fans have now urged him to return to the club.

Llorente posted a picture of him training to get fit for the season and the post was inundated with Spurs fans calling for his return.

We believe that Llorente can serve as a vital plan B if the team is chasing a game and also could be an option if there is an injury crisis like there was last season. He proved last season that he can still be an effective option and so there is no harm in snapping him up for another year.
