Some Spurs fans on social media have questioned why Tottenham did not sign Jarrod Bowen when he was at Hull City after reports emerged that the North London club are now eyeing a move for the West Ham winger.
Bowen was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar back in 2019 when the winger was ripping Championship defences to shreds at Hull.
However, it was West Ham who ended up signing the 24-year-old for a fee of over £20m in January of last year.
Bowen has settled in very well to life in the Premier League and has been a consistent performer for David Moyes’ side over the last twelve months.
The Independent reported on Monday that Tottenham have sent scouts to monitor Bowen, with the Lilywhites showing interest in the winger, along with Leicester City and Liverpool.
While some Spurs fans urged the club to snap him up, several questioned why they did not sign Bowen for a cut-price fee from Hull a couple of years ago.
He’s better than all our wingers btw

Didn't we consider him when he was in the Championship but passed on for who knows who?
Levy needs to pivot to running a comedy club. https://t.co/I7y02v1Fu2— Emmanuel (@Mazi_Chuks) September 21, 2021
We should've signed him for cheap before he went to West Ham but that would've made too much sense for Spurs https://t.co/h6u1UxBitS

Spurs recruitment all over
Could have bought him for £20m in January 2019 but didn't want to pay the fee
West Ham sign him, he does alright but they will want near £35m to sign him and probably wont do business with Spurs anyway, but Spurs still want him
You cant defend this https://t.co/8sDQVOGS6A

add him to the ever-growing list of players we should’ve moved for while we eyeing them up in the lower leagues, instead of just sitting on our hands https://t.co/YMDuQGjT70

Spurs Web Opinion
Bowen is contracted to West Ham until 2025. So, the Hammers will likely demand more than £50m for the winger.
At that price, one could argue that there are better options out there. I also believe we need to prioritise a central midfielder and a striker over another winger.
