Steve Cooper has refused a rule out a late exit for Brennan Johnson, simply remarking that ‘we shall see’ if a departure is on the cards for the youngster.
However, over the past few hours, multiple outlets have claimed that a bid from Spurs for Johnson now looks imminent.
This includes The Telegraph, who stated that the North London club will submit an offer for the 22-year-old today, with the player said to be keen on a move to the club.
Meanwhile, The Evening Standard claimed this afternoon that Tottenham are hopeful that the Tricky Trees will soften their stance before tomorrow’s 11 pm deadline.
Steve Cooper does not rule out Brennan Johnson exit
Cooper has now chosen to keep his cards close to his chest regarding Johnson, simply stating that things will carry on as normal until there is any official update on the matter.
When asked if the Wales international could leave before the deadline, the Forest boss said (via Yahoo): “If something’s going to happen then it’s coming to that time. We shall see.
“In terms of Brennan, there’s no official news, we just have to carry on as normal. The boys are in for training and we’ll treat it as best we can like a normal day.
“I wouldn’t say there’s massive disruption to our planning [for the Chelsea game] apart from some injuries. We’ll just deal with it as it comes.”
Spurs Web Opinion
These are the words of someone who is aware that there is a decent chance that Johnson will not be a Forest player by tomorrow’s deadline The deal might well go down to the wire but I do believe that Tottenham will get it over the line.
