Commentator reveals potential injury behind why Ndombele was taken off against Everton

Tottenham Hotspur were knocked out of the FA Cup by fellow Premier League side Everton last night after they fell to a 5-4 defeat at Goodison Park after extra time.

As an attacking outlet, Spurs were far more productive than usual in front of goal, with the likes of Son, Lamela, Moura, Kane and Bergwijn playing well.

Tanguy Ndombele started the game alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield and did a superb job of linking defence and attack.

However, the Frenchman was taken off when the score was locked at 4-4 after 90 minutes, with Harry Winks coming on in his place to play in extra time.

During the BT Sport coverage, the commentator, Ian Darke, revealed that Ndombele had been seen carrying a knock before heading over to Mourinho for a conversation. He was then taken off (BT Sport Main Event – 22:16 on 10/02/21).

Alasdair Gold also tweeted during the game that it appeared as though Ndombele may have picked up a knock when he was substituted.

It remains to be seen whether the Spurs record signing will return in time for the match against Manchester City this weekend.
