There is still everything to play for in the race for a spot in the Premier League’s top four this season, and with Champions League football very much at stake, we take a look at the remaining fixtures for both Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
It was a weekend of starkly contrasting fortunes for both Tottenham and Villa this weekend. While Ange Postecoglou‘s men fell to a crushing defeat at the hands of Newcastle United, Aston Villa inflicted a first loss of 2024 on Arsenal.
The results see Villa move ahead of Spurs once more into fourth place, with a three point cushion. However, the Lilywhites do have a game in hand on their Premier League rivals that could prove crucial in this race.
As we head into the final run-in, here are the games remaining for both sides.
Tottenham’s remaining Premier League fixtures
Tottenham have an incredibly tough run-in, with a number of games against the top teams in the league, and a couple of games against relegation battlers.
Here are Spurs’ remaining games:
- April 28th: Arsenal (H)
- May 2nd: Chelsea (A)
- May 5th: Liverpool (A)
- May 11th: Burnley (H)
- May 14th: Man City (H)
- May 19th: Sheffield United (A)
Aston Villa’s remaining Premier League fixtures
Villa have one game less than Spurs to play, but have a much more favourable run-in. They also play two Premier League games before Tottenham play again, which’ll make things a lot clearer in the race for fourth place.
Here are Aston Villa’s remaining games:
- April 21st: Bournemouth (H)
- April 27th: Chelsea (H)
- May 4th: Brighton (A)
- May 13th: Liverpool (H)
- May 19th: Crystal Palace (A)
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham are going to have to pull some big results out of the bag now if they are to win this battle. Villa should realistically be winning four of their five games, and may even get something out of the home meeting with Liverpool. Spurs might only win the Burnely and Sheffield United games, which would be a disaster.
