Deportivo La Coruna starlet, Andres Guardado, has expressed his delight that the Spanish outfit are trailing Giovani Dos Santos.

Dos Santos has been very much a bit part player at Tottenham, especially since Harry Redknapp took over.

He has mainly been restricted to a handful of Carling Cup appearances, but his standing remains high in Spain and in his native Mexico.

Guardado played alongside Dos Santos in this year’s Gold Cup, a tournament that saw Giovani named player of the tournament, and is excited that Miguel Angel Lotina could make a move to bring his compatriot to the Riazor.

“If Giovani came then we would be able to count on a quality player who has huge potential and can help raise the level of the team,” he told Spanish daily, AS.

“He is a great player and I am not just saying that because he is Mexican too, but because he is going through a very good time on a personal level.

“In his club side though, he is not being given much time to play, so it would great if he went to another team. He is an important player for Mexico and if he came here, then even better.”
