‘Completed his medical’ – Fabrizio Romano provides Djed Spence Spurs update

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Djed Spence has now completed his medical at Hotspur Way ahead of a transfer to Tottenham this summer.

This comes after Sky Sports reported that the right-wing-back was due to arrive in North London for his medical this morning.

Romano claimed Spence is set to sign a long-term contract with the Lilywhites, and it is now a matter of the final details and official documents being sorted.

Tottenham will pay Middlesbrough a £12.5m fixed fee, which could rise to just under £20m with add-ons.

Spence enjoyed a successful loan spell with Nottingham Forest last season in the Championship, helping them through the play-offs and back into the Premier League. He also starred in underdog wins over Arsenal and Leicester in the FA Cup.

Spurs already have Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal at right-wing-back, both of whom are on the pre-season tour of South Korea, so Spence will have plenty of competition.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Spence is exactly what Spurs need down the right side. Pace, strength, and a direct source of attack. I can already see Harry Kane dropping deep, turning with the ball and picking out those balls over the top to an on-rushing Spence!
