‘Concrete talks’ – Fabrizio Romano provides update on Spurs-linked Gudmundsson

Fabrizio Romano has said that while Genoa expect offers to come their way for rumoured Tottenham target Albert Gudmundsson, no club has come forward to hold concrete talks over the attacking midfielder yet.

Even though Genoa are sitting in 12th place in Serie A, Gudmundsson has been one of the standout players across the Italian top flight this season, with the 26-year-old proving a major threat almost every single time he steps out on the pitch.

The versatile attacker, who prefers playing as a number ten but can also operate in either flank, has 12 goals to his name so far this season, which is quite impressive when considering that Alberto Gilardino’s side are quite defensively minded.

Gudmundsson’s stock rose further during the international break as he netted a hat-trick for Iceland in their win over Israel while also scoring a brilliant solo effort in his nation’s 2-1 defeat to Ukraine.

It has been widely reported over recent days in Italy that Tottenham are expected to be challenged by the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus for the midfielder’s services (FcInterNews).

Genoa expect bids for Albert Gudmundsson this summer

Romano has now taken to social media to state that Genoa value their talisman at €25m-€30m (£21.3m-£25.6m) and that the Italian side would be open to part-exchange offers for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham would not have any trouble agreeing a deal with Genoa for Gudmundsson but the 26-year-old might have some doubts over a switch to North London as he would be aware that he would have to play second fiddle to James Maddison.
