Conflicting reports emerge over Lo Celso’s fitness

The season may have only recently started but Tottenham already have a few players recovering from injury including the likes of Juan Foyth, Kyle Walker-Peters and Tanguy Ndombele.

Spurs fans would certainly be crossing their fingers all their stars come through unscathed from the international break but the first round of matches has already had its first victim in the form of Giovani Lo Celso.

The summer signing picked up a groin injury during Argentina’s friendly against Chile and had to be replaced just 53 minutes into the game in Los Angeles on Thursday night.

The Real Betis loanee allayed fans fears after the game by revealing that it was only a minor blow (Goal).

However, there are now contradictory reports emerging about the 23-year-old’s whereabouts. Argentine publication, Conclusion reported two days ago that Lo Celso would fly back to London to continue his rehabilitation at Tottenham and will play no part in the game against Mexico on Tuesday.

Football.London meanwhile noted that the Argentinean FA’s official Twitter feed showed Lo Celso on Saturday in Los Angeles in photos with the rest of the squad with the caption: “After practice, the players of Argentina signed autographs and pictures were taken with the fans.”

None of these reports seem to shed light on the extent of Lo Celso’s injury. Hopefully, it is nothing to worry about and we will see him in action against Crystal Palace this weekend. The Argentine needs to get some game time under his belt in order to adapt quickly to his new surroundings.
