Conflicting reports emerge over Spurs’ rumoured interest in ex-Man Utd midfielder

While The Guardian have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Jesse Lingard’s situation, Fabrizio Romano has insisted that the 29-year-old is not of interest to Antonio Conte’s side.

Tottenham have already made six new signings so far this summer and reports indicate that the north London club might do more business before the window slam’s shut.

The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick claimed this week that Spurs are potentially on the lookout for another centre-back and a creative midfielder.

The Guardian have revealed that Tottenham are one of the clubs monitoring Lingard, who is a free agent after his contract with Manchester United came to a conclusion earlier in the summer.

The report added that West Ham United are in talks with the England international, who is also attracting interest from Nottingham Forest, Everton, Newcastle United and Leicester City.

However, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Lingard is not of interest to Antonio Conte or Fabio Paratici and that Spurs will not be making an offer for the midfielder.

Romano then offered another update on Lingard, stating that Forest have made an ‘important proposal’ for the former United man and the newly-promoted side are batting the Hammers for the player’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Conte would be interested in signing Lingard if the 29-year-old was open to a move to Spurs. However, I do not see why the England international would risk coming to Tottenham and warming the bench after the difficult last few years he has had at Old Trafford.
