‘Constantly’ – Heung-min Son says he has exchanged text messages with Postecoglou this week

Son Heung-min has admitted that he and Ange Postecoglou have been regularly exchanging texts ahead of each of South Korea’s and Tottenham’s games over the past few weeks.

Son has been away at the Asian Cup since the start of January and his side are now within touching distance of the trophy, having set up a semifinal clash against Jordan on Tuesday after overcoming Australia in the quarterfinals.

Ahead of the clash against the Aussies, Postecoglou insists that it was a ‘win-win’ situation for him, no matter the result, admitting that he would love for Son to lift the trophy (Tottenham’s official channel).

The 31-year-old proved to be the difference in the clash, winning a penalty to help his side draw level in stoppage time, before curling a free-kick into the top corner in extra time to send Jurgen Klinsmann’s side into the final four.

Heung-min Son is in regular contact with Ange Postecoglou

Speaking after his heroics, Son revealed that he and Postecoglou constantly keep in touch, regularly exchanging good luck messages before games.

The forward said (via Steve Han) about the Tottenham boss: “I’m constantly exchanging text messages with him. Before every game for Spurs, I text him to wish him luck. He’s doing the same before our games here. We keep sending each other good luck messages.”

While Son has had good relationships with almost all managers he has worked under at Spurs since 2015, it does feel like the connection he has with Ange is a bit more special, which is not surprising given that the Australian made him club captain.
