Conte admits Spurs star picked up a knock against Frankfurt

Antonio Conte has revealed that Richarlison picked up a knock during Tottenham’s win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, and added that he is hopeful the issue is not a serious one.

Tottenham needed all three points at home against Frankfurt after getting just one point from their two away trips to Germany and Portugal in the previous two matchdays.

The Lilywhites got the job done as they maintained their perfect home record and moved into pole position in Group D with a 3-2 win.

In the end, the scoreline was much closer than it should have been, with the home side squandering several chances in the second half, especially after the German club were reduced to ten men.

Richarlison, who put in a typically energetic display on the right, was replaced by Oliver Skipp in the 67th minute, and Conte has admitted that the Brazilian had to be taken off due to a knee problem.

The Spurs head coach stated that he is hopeful the 25-year-old will be available to feature against his former side on Saturday.

Conte told BT Sport after Tottenham’s 3-2 win: “Richarlison played a good game. He had a problem in his knee.

“I hope it’s nothing serious for Saturday’s game with Everton.”

Let us hope that the issue is just a minor one as we certainly need Richy, given the busy schedule we have until the World Cup. However, with Kulusevski and Moura now back fit, it will not be a major problem if the 25-year-old is out of action for a game or two.
