Conte answers question on futures of Spurs outcasts Winks, Ndombele, Reguilon and Lo Celso

Antonio Conte has hinted that Tottenham Hotspur are trying to find suitable transfers for Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilon.

None of the four aforementioned players have played any part during Tottenham’s pre-season so far and reports over recent weeks indicate that all four are expected to leave the club before the transfer window closes (Evening Standard).

This week, The Athletic revealed how close those four players are to the exit door. The report said, as things stand, neither Ndombele nor Winks were close to leaving the club, with the former expected to be loaned out once again.

The report added that Fiorentina and Villarreal are among the clubs who are keen on Lo Celso, who is said to be valued at €20m while it was explained that Tottenham were waiting for Sevilla to complete Jules Kounde’s sale before pushing ahead with a deal for Reguilon.

Conte has now chosen to give a diplomatic answer when quizzed on the futures of Winks, Lo Celso, Ndombele and Reguilon (Football.London): “We spoke with the club and confirmed about the plans for the next season. Players want to play and we will find the best solutions.”

Conte’s words suggest that it is as much about the players themselves wanting to leave in search of game time as it is about them not being part of his plans.

I suspect both Lo Celso and Winks would have likely requested a transfer this summer in order to play regularly next season.

While the decision to freeze out the four of them completely might seem harsh, it is arguably the right one, particularly considering the brutal workload the players have under Conte in pre-season.

It would not make much sense to put them through that kind of intense regime, knowing that they have no future at the club.
