Conte claims one Spurs star is still ‘underrated’ but could play for any side in the world

Antonio Conte believes Heung-min Son has been underrated by some and claims the Tottenham forward could play for any club in the world.

Currently in Son’s homeland of South Korea, Spurs got to take on their first pre-season challenge in the form of the K-League All-Stars this afternoon, winning 6-3 with Sonny scoring a brace.

The 30-year-old, who won last season’s Premier League Golden Boot, picked up where he left off and started his pre-season preparations on the perfect note.

Despite picking up the award alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Son’s father sparked debate by insisting his son needed to do more and play a ‘solid role’ at a top club to be considered world-class (CGTN).

And Conte, when asked if he considered Son to be in the elite bracket, did not hesitate to throw plenty of praise in his direction, while maintaining he could play for any team in world football.

He said (via Football Daily): “I think that maybe many people are underrating him. I think Sonny can play in every team in the world. I am very lucky to have him in my team. It’s a pleasure when you have a player like him.”

There is very little doubt about Son’s ability and his performances over the last few seasons rightly put him in the world-class bracket. Spurs have to cherish having him next to Harry Kane because both hold such invaluable roles for the team.
