Conte has warned Inter he will sign Bremer if they don’t sell Bastoni – claims journalist

Journalist Gian Luca Rossi claims Antonio Conte has warned Inter Milan that he will take Gleison Bremer to Tottenham if they do not let Alessandro Bastoni leave this summer.

Tottenham’s pursuit of Bastoni seemed to end yesterday when the centre-back’s agent Tullio Tinti confirmed following his meeting with the Inter hierarchy that his client will be staying put at the San Siro (Football Italia).

Bremer is thought to be another option on Spurs’ radar (CalcioMercato) but reports over recent days have indicated that Inter are closing in on a deal for the Torino star (Football Transfers).

Alasdair Gold remarked on his YouTube Channel (starting at 10:01) yesterday that he wonders whether Spurs would push ahead with a move for the Brazilian now that their pursuit of Bastoni has fallen through.

If Gian Luca Rossi’s latest update is to be believed, that is exactly what Spurs have threatened to do. The journalist claimed Conte has warned his former club that he will snap up Bremer if Inter block Bastoni’s move to Spurs.

He told Telelombardia (as relayed by FC Inter 1908 and SportWitness 09/06/22): “It is no mystery that Antonio Conte likes Bastoni.

“Indeed, from the information I have gathered, Conte is ready to put a spoke in the wheel at Inter. The message that Conte sent to Inter is more or less: if don’t leave me Bastoni, I’m going to Bremer.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I think Spurs should now look beyond Bastoni to other targets. The centre-back has reiterated multiple times that he is desperate to stay at Inter, and with his agent’s latest statement, it appears as if a transfer is not on the cards this summer.

However, given Inter’s financial problems, I do wonder if Bastoni staying means that the Nerazzurri have to cash in on Lautaro Martinez, who is their other prized asset. I can see Spurs putting in a bid for the Argentine later in the window.
