Conte hits out and claims Nagelsmann’s Kane comments were ‘disrespectful’ to Spurs

Antonio Conte has accused Julian Nagelsmann of disrespecting Tottenham by openly discussing his admiration for Harry Kane.

Kane has looked in excellent rhythm during pre-season so far, and the striker was once again the star of the show for the Lilywhites on Saturday, netting a brace to help them beat Rangers 2-1 at Ibrox in their third friendly of the summer.

The 28-year-old admitted earlier this month that he is excited about what Spurs could achieve in their first full season under Conte (Football.London).

However, that has not stopped the speculation surrounding the striker’s future, with reports previously suggesting that Bayern have their eye on the England captain (Kicker), although this was quickly dismissed by other sources (Christian Falk).

The question of Bayern’s interest in Kane was put to Nagglesman on Saturday, and the Bayern boss insisted that the Tottenham man ‘could score a lot in Bundesliga’ but added he would be ‘too expensive’ for the German club (90 min).

Conte has now made it clear that Kane will be sticking around at Spurs for the upcoming season and criticised Naglesmann for speaking about his star striker.

When asked about the 35-year-old expressing his admiration for the England captain, the Spurs head coach responded (via Football.London): “Honestly I didn’t hear this.

“For sure I’m a coach who doesn’t talk about players from other teams. I don’t know why [this happened].

“The situation at Tottenham is very clear. The plan is very clear with the club. Harry is a part of the project. He is a very important part of the project and yeah only rumours.

“At the same time, I repeat I don’t like to speak about players from another club. If I want to do something I go to speak to the club, not through the media.

“I think maybe it’s a bit disrespectful for the other club. This is my way. This is my way to face the situation with other players.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems like Bayern are clearly paving the way for a potential move for Kane next summer. They seem to be sending out messages to the 28-year-old’s camp publicly that they will make an offer in 12 months if he does not sign a new contract with Spurs.

However, I am not convinced that Kane will move to the Bundesliga as the striker clearly has his eye on Alan Shearer’s Premier League goal record.
