Conte reveals formation he wants vs Man Utd – Bryan Gil a ‘possibility’

Antonio Conte has revealed that he would prefer to play with a 3-4-3 against Man United on Wednesday, despite not having Richarlison or Dejan Kulusevski from the start.

With Harry Kane and Heung-min Son almost guaranteed a place in the starting XI at Old Trafford, the third place in a 3-4-3 front line appears to be up for grabs.

Conte claimed that Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil are both possible options on the wing, with the former returning from injury recently and the latter impressing with his cameo against Eintracht Frankfurt last week.

Meanwhile, the Italian also suggested that Ivan Perisic could line up as a striker in one of the front positions.

Conte made it very clear that he would prefer to name a 3-4-3 because he believes his ideas work a lot better in that system, despite Spurs’ recent impressive showings using a 3-5-2 with Yves Bissouma in midfield.

He said (Football London): “Tomorrow Lucas can be a possibility, Gil can be a possibility, Perisic like a striker in a three is a possibility. We have another training session to decide. I prefer to play with a 3-4-3 but we’ll see.

“Yes [I would like to stick with 3-4-3], because in my idea we’ve worked a lot with this system. Lucas Moura is recovering from his injury, Gil is making progress and then I have Ivan Perisic who can play like a striker.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Conte could very much be telling the truth and will start one of those three on the left or right against Man United. Or, he could simply be keeping things open so Man United don’t know he is going to start with a 3-5-2.
