Conte reveals he changed his mind on front three after Man City postponement

Antonio Conte has revealed that he changed his mind on which front three to play next following the postponement of the Man City match last weekend.

All Premier League matches were put on hold as a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty The Queen, days before Spurs were due to face Man City away.

While Conte would have already had a plan in mind for his formation and starting XI for the match against Pep Guardiola’s men, it appears that line-up may not carry over to the Sporting Lisbon game tomorrow evening.

Conte left Dejan Kulusevski on the bench for the past two matches against Marseille and Fulham, although he made an important impact off the bench in the former. The Swede was also a star of the show against Man City away in the 3-2 win last season.

In his pre-match press conference, Conte confirmed his mind had changed from game to game, so it remains to be seen which three he opts for tomorrow.

He said (Football London): “I have the possibility to pick three important players and know I have a player on the bench ready to come on and help us.

“Against Marseille, it was 0-0 and I decided to put Deki on to the pitch and also to keep the three strikers on to be attacking.

“The postponed game allows me to make a different decision. Against Man City, I would have played with certain players but now I change things in my mind.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I think Conte was planning on picking his usual Kane, Son and Kulusevski against Man City as a proven trio, but he will now swap Son out for Richarlison against Sporting. That’s the feeling I get when reading these quotes.
