Conte reveals names of two players competing to replace Skipp against Leeds

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Antonio Conte has revealed that Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks are fighting it out to replace Oliver Skipp against Leeds United this weekend.

Skipp is banned for the Premier League match on Sunday after picking up too many yellow cards in the opening 11 games, already reaching the five threshold.

As such, Conte will need to change up his midfield pairing of Skipp and Hojbjerg, with the latter also being assessed in training today after picking up an injury. However, the Spurs head coach seemed hopeful that the Dane would be available.

In his press conference this morning, Conte revealed that one of Ndombele or Winks would replace Oliver Skipp in the starting line-up against Leeds.

This would be a rare chance for Winks to impress this season after limited opportunities under Nuno Espirito Santo, while Ndombele has a point to prove under yet another new boss.

Conte said (Football London): “Skippy was banned for one game but in the previous games we played with Skippy and Hojbjerg.

“I hope today to have Hojbjerg back with the team because he was away for the week, and then there is one between Winks and Tanguy [to play instead of Skipp].”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would imagine that Harry Winks will start in midfield alongside Hojbjerg to add extra legs and bite against a rather rampant Leeds side. I feel as though Ndombele would get overrun in the engine room in this type of game. Better to play him further forward.
