Conte reveals Spurs will ‘for sure’ sign another player under one condition

Antonio Conte has revealed that Tottenham will ‘for sure’ have to sign another player if one of their current squad leaves before the transfer window shuts.

The Spurs boss added that it is difficult to keep a player in North London if they want to play regularly, with the World Cup on the horizon in November.

Tottenham have already signed Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence, and Destiny Udogie this summer, but Spurs fans would surely love to see number eight come through the doors.

The Evening Standard reported earlier in the summer than Spurs were focusing on outgoings, although a playmaker and centre-back remained on the wishlist.

Conte’s statement today lines up with a report from Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto this week, in which he claimed Spurs would only let Gil join Valencia on loan after first lining up a replacement.

On the possibility of new signings, Conte said in his press conference today (Football London): “I think that we are ok and if someone go away then for sure another player has to come, especially if some player wants to go and play regularly and it’s difficult to keep them here.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

You get the feeling that Conte is relatively happy with his squad now, as you can’t complete a full overhaul in one window. However, Spurs will monitor any good opportunities over the coming weeks, as well as lining up replacements if Gil or Tanganga depart.
