Conte reveals what he thinks Tottenham must ‘exploit’ in the coming weeks

Antonio Conte has argued that Spurs must ‘exploit’ the current confidence in the squad as they continue through a packed festive fixture schedule.

Tottenham climbed the table again this week with a 3-0 victory over London rivals, Crystal Palace, courtesy of goals from all three of the front line, Kane, Moura and Son.

The Lilywhites remain unbeaten in the league under Antonio Conte, with two draws and four wins from six matches, as well as a Carabao Cup victory over West Ham United.

Conte would have had plenty to celebrate on Boxing Day, with his side recording a clean sheet and Harry Kane making it goals in back-to-back games.

Tottenham are next in action in less than 48 hours when they face an away trip to Southampton, a side who just beat West Ham 3-2.

Conte believes Tottenham need to keep improving and exploiting the confidence from a good run in the Premier League.

He said (Football London): “I think that this is different to the momentum at Chelsea. I don’t like to compare different situations. Too big a difference with my experience in the past.

“Also because I remember very well that I have started the season and when you start the season you get to make a decision about your players and work with them.

“We need to continue to exploit the confidence that is going to improve. We know very well that we have a lot of job to do and it’s good to score three goals with your strikers and good to keep a clean sheet but we need to work very hard to impove the situation.”

Teams that achieve anything in the Premier League, including a top-four finish, always put a few runs together in the season. Tottenham are on one such run at the moment and must take full advantage of that confidence and momentum, as Conte suggests.
