Conte reveals whether Heung-min Son could take a penalty vs Norwich

Antonio Conte has revealed that Harry Kane will remain on penalty duties for the final Premier League match of the season, despite Heung-min Son’s need for a goal.

Kane has netted penalties in his last two matches, scoring to put Spurs ahead against both Arsenal and Burnley, the latter being a significant strike in a narrow 1-0 victory.

The Spurs striker has scored four times from the spot this season (Premier League) and is currently on a run of 21 without a miss for Tottenham (Independent).

However, as Tottenham approach their final match of the season, Heung-min Son finds himself needing at least one goal to win the Golden Boot award. The South Korean is currently on 21 for the season, one behind Mo Salah in the lead on 22 (Premier League).

Despite this, it appears that Conte wants Harry Kane to remain on spot-kicks for the crucial match against Norwich, with Spurs needing a point to earn a top-four finish.

When asked if Son could be on penalties, Conte said (Football London): “Before there is the interest of the team and Harry Kane is our penalty taker. If there is a penalty Kane has to kick. After that I’m pleased for Sonny, he deserves to stay in this position, but first the team.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I completely agree with the sentiment here, but I can’t help but feel Conte and Kane would step aside if Spurs got a 90th-minute penalty and the scoreline was 2-0, or something along those lines.
