CalcioMercatoWeb.it have claimed that Antonio Conte wants Tottenham Hotspur to snap up Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella if the club want him to stay.
Over the last couple of weeks, multiple outlets have reported that Spurs have already begun the process of looking for Conte’s replacement (Daily Mail).
However, CMW.it have now stated that the North London club have not given up on this project just yet and are ready to ‘do everything’ to convince the Italian to sign a new deal.
It is explained that Tottenham would have to make a big effort in the transfer market to convince the 53-year-old to be at the club next season as the Spurs head coach will settle for nothing less than competing for the Premier League title.
The report adds that Conte has told the club’s hierarchy that he wants to reunite with Barella in N17 next season.
However, it is explained that the Nerazzurri will not let the Italy international leave at a discount and are expected to demand around €60m-€70m (£52.5m-£61.3m) for his services.
Spurs Web Opinion
Spurs fans should take reports like this one with a pinch of salt as Conte is certainly in no position to make big demands, given that he has failed to get the best out of the squad at his disposal.
I think it is pretty clear now that all parties will go their separate ways in the summer.
