As announced on Tottenham’s official club website, 20 year old right-back Kyle Walker-Peters has signed a new contract with Spurs until 2020.
The youngster recently made his debut in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Newcastle at St James’ Park, in which the full-back also walked away with the man of the match award in his first competitive outing.
The reward of a new contract only adds to what has so far been a largely successful 2017 for the defender who also experienced World Cup glory with the England Under 20s side, earlier in the Summer alongside fellow Spurs prospect Josh Onomah.
Walker-Peters has also been capped at Under 18s and Under 19s level, as well as emerging as a regular in Tottenham’s Premier League 2 and UEFA Youth League campaigns last season.
In an interview with Tottenham’s official website, Walker-Peters revealed his delight to have signed a new contract, but also showed determination to ‘kick on’ and improve his game. He said:
“I’m over the moon at the moment. Of course, it’s great to sign a new contract and commit my future to the club.”
“And obviously to make my debut and get 3 points and get man of the match, its also a great addition to that.”
“I don’t think you always expect to get man of the match on your debut,” He added. “Because its new to you and premier league football’s a lot different to Under 23s.
“It just shows that I need to kick on now. It makes me want more of that.”
