Copa America heart-break for one Spurs star – semi-final for another

Many Tottenham Hotspur players will currently be enjoying their holidays, but two of the club’s South American stars have been competing in the Copa America this summer.

Juan Foyth was called up to the Argentina squad, will fellow countrymen Paulo Gazzaniga and Erik Lamela being left at home, while Davinson Sanchez made the Colombia team.

Both of these sides managed to make it to the quarter-finals in Brazil, but had mixed fortunes in their respective matches (Tottenham).

Foyth started at right-back as Argentina beat Venezuela 2-0 yesterday to book a date against the host nation in the semis.

Unfortunately, Colombia could not keep the hopes of a Foyth vs Sanchez final alive as they lost on penalties to reigning champions Chile.

Foyth is set to take on Brazil early on Wednesday morning for UK viewers, July 3 at 1:30 am. Meanwhile, Sanchez will likely now enjoy a brief holiday before joining up with the Spurs pre-season squad.
