‘Could be his season’ – Spurs legend tips star to have breakthrough campaign

Tottenham legend Osvaldo Ardiles has heaped praise on fellow Argentinian Giovani Lo Celso ahead of the new 2021/22 Premier League season.

The two-time FA Cup winner with Spurs claimed that Lo Celso has not had an easy start to his North London career, while suggesting that ‘this could be his season’.

He quoted a tweet from TheSpursWeb which revealed it was two years to the day since Tottenham signed the midfielder from Real Betis. However, the deal was actually made permanent in the following January transfer window.

Lo Celso has made 65 appearances in a Spurs shirt in all competitions. However, injuries have stalled his progress to consistent first-team action and he is arguably yet to breakthrough as one of the first names on the Tottenham teamsheet.

The Argentine has missed 36 games for Spurs since joining the club in 2019. 27 of those games came last season after the 25-year-old missed a massive chunk of the campaign (Transfermarkt).

However, he is now fresh off a very successful summer with Argentina, where he won the Copa America after playing 336 minutes in the tournament.

Ardiles was full of compliments for Lo Celso and believes that he could have a bright season ahead of him:

SpursWeb Opinion

Lo Celso is a player who is about to have a defining season. He divides opinion but one thing a lot will agree on is that there is certainly a good player there. It’s about showing it consistently and avoiding constant niggling injuries.
