Christian Eriksen takes to Instagram after orchestrating Tottenham comeback

Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer but no move has materialised so far (Marca).

A few months ago, the 27-year-old revealed his intention to seek a new challenge and said he would be open to a move to Real Madrid (Ekstra Bladet) but reports from Spain have suggested that the Dane isn’t one of the Spanish giants’ priorities this window (Evening Standard).

Question marks have been raised over the midfielder’s attitude on the back of his performances in pre-season and Pochettino chose to start him on the bench in Tottenham’s opening Premier League game against Aston Villa.

However, the Danish international came on in the second half when Spurs were 1-0 down and played a crucial role in helping the Lilywhites turn the game around.

After the game, the midfielder took to social media to post a picture of him planting the corner flag back after celebrating the winning goal.

Some fans saw the post as a message that Dane’s still committed to the club. Fans predictably inundated the comments section with calls for him to sign a new contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

Whether this post meant anything at all or not, Eriksen’s performance on Saturday certainly didn’t seem to suggest a lack of interest or application. When he plays at that level, the 27-year-old is irreplaceable for the team. However, given his contract situation, we at Spurs Web still expect the midfielder to leave before September 2nd.
