Could Tottenham sign Serie A star on a free?

Some Tottenham fans are clambering for their side to sign up Claudio Marchisio after Juventus terminated the star’s contract this week.

Marchisio was associated with Juventus for a staggering 25 years, coming through their youth system and commanding his place in the first team year after year.

He made 294 appearances for the Italian giants, scoring 33 goals in that time, an impressive return for a predominantly defensive central midfielder.

Centre midfield is actually a position that needs strengthening at Tottenham, with the likes of Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks still lacking fitness, and an aging Mousa Dembele unable to play many games in a row.

However, even though the Italian serial winner is a free agent this summer, FIFA rules state that he may only be signed by a club whose transfer window is still open.

This means that, if Tottenham wanted to sign him, they would have to wait until January to secure his services.

Should Tottenham look into sighing Claudio Marchisio in January?
