Tottenham Hotspur were drawn against fellow English club Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League following the draw that took place today at Uefa’s HQ in Nyon, Switzerland.
Spurs will play their first leg at home (in the new stadium if all goes to plan) before travelling to the Etihad a week later.
While most Spurs fans were hoping for Ajax or Porto, and some were pining for a rematch against Juventus, Man City is really the worst draw that Spurs could have had in many people’s opinion.
The other ties in the round see Juventus taking on Ajax, Barcelona facing off against Manchester United and Liverpool playing Porto.
The winner of the quarter-final between City and Spurs will have to play the winner of the Juve vs Ajax tie for a place in the final.
It looks like Spurs will have to overcome City and Juventus if they wish to make the final, which looks pretty unlikely at the moment, particularly as the Lilywhites will have to play the first leg at home on both occasions.
Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to the draw on social media :
Well that literally couldn’t have been any worse.
