‘Cracks certainly appearing’ – Redknapp predicts problems behind the scenes at Spurs

Jamie Redknapp has suggested that there will soon be a fall-out between Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy and manager Antonio Conte.

The north Londoners began the new year in the worst possible way after they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they continue to lose grip on a top four place after being overtaken by Manchester United the day prior.

The Italian was without the services of Dejan Kulusevski for the Premier League clash and admitted after the match that he does not have many creative players at his disposal (BBC).

Conte also elaborated during his post-match press conference that he does not have enough depth in his squad, claiming that a good side would have thirteen or fourteen quality players within it who are difference makers (Sky Sports).

The 53-year-old who is currently out of contract at Tottenham at the end of the season has previously shown he is not afraid to walk away when his vision does not meet that of those on the board when he quit Inter Milan in 2021 when the Serie A outfit’s owners proposed a downsizing of his squad (Sky Sports).

Redknapp, who was part of the punditry panel told Sky Sports Premier League (19:27 – 1/1/23): “I can see cracks certainly appearing, even Pochettino in the wings. I don’t feel this is going to end up in the way that it feels that it should do.

“I am a big Antonio Conte fan. I think there is going to be a fall-out pretty soon. I get that feeling.

Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici have to take accountability for the lack of depth within Conte’s squad. The options from the bench against Villa were nothing short of embarrassing; Royal, Dier, Sessegnon, Tanganga, Sanchez, Spence, Skipp and Sarr are hardly going to change the course of a game.

Those who are calling for a Pochettino return are forgetting that Levy also failed to back him in a number of transfer windows when the opportunity was there to push on, which the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea did to our expense.
