Craig Bellamy admits one Spurs player has taken him by surprise

Tottenham Hotspur have been really unlucky with injuries this season which has meant that some squad players have played many more games than they would have thought.

Contrary to pundits’ criticism that Spurs lack squad depth, the players who have come in have been fantastic, and as a result, we have won 15 of our first 19 games.

Chief among the players who have exceeded expectations with their performance is Moussa Sissoko. The Frenchman has been phenomenal in the heart of midfield, performing his defensive duties diligently and bursting forward with the ball from time to time.

Sissoko who had become a bit of a joke among Spurs fans until last season owing to his poor showings has suddenly become a fan favourite.

Former Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy is certainly one of those who didn’t forsee the Frenchman’s rise to prominence.

Speaking to Sky Sports’ show The Debate, Bellamy said: “I tell you what has surprised me is Sissoko,”

“[With] Sissoko [it] was like, I cannot see him ever getting into the Spurs team and over the past month, he has been brilliant. He has really looked like the player we saw at Newcastle.”

Most Spurs fans would admit that they are at least as surprised as Bellamy at the level of the 29-year-old’s performances.

It will be interesting to see if Sissoko keeps his place in the side if and when the likes of Dembele, Dier, and Wanyama return.

On current showing, the Frenchman is nothing short of undroppable.
