‘Crazy about him’ – Danish journalist discusses Eriksen’s chance of returning to Tottenham

Tipsbladet’s editor-in-chief, Allan Olsen, has said (as translated by Sport Witness) that all signs point toward Christian Eriksen completing a return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Spurs have been credited with an interest in signing Eriksen on a free transfer this summer (90min) but reports over recent weeks have indicated that Dane’s priority is to sit down with Brentford to listen to their proposal (Fabrizio Romano on the Que Golazo Podcast).

Olsen has now said that the Bees are ‘a possible candidate’ to sign the 30-year-old and that ‘under no circumstances’ has the player slammed the door on signing a long-term contract with Thoms Frank’s side.

However, the journalist says he believes Eriksen will make a switch to a bigger club, suggesting that the player has ‘an inbox filled with offers’.

Olsen mentions Newcastle United and Manchester United as contenders for the midfielder’s signature but adds that the ‘arrow points so much in the direction of Tottenham’.

The journalist explains how Spurs fans are ‘crazy about’ Eriksen and the Denmark international already knows the club and the city well.

Finally, he claimed it is ‘not inconceivable’ that the former Ajax man could give clarification regarding his future before he goes on vacation this summer.

Eriksen’s decision might come down to what he prioritises more – regular starts or an emotional return to Spurs and the chance to play in the Champions League.

I am not particularly confident that we will win the race for the Dane, particularly after his early struggles at Inter Milan to get game time under Conte.
