Stat shows just how far behind Tottenham are in terms of global spending

Tottenham Hotspur became the first Premier League club in history not to sign a single player across an entire season this year.

Spurs refrained from dipping into the transfer market, apart from their sale of Mousa Dembele to China.

The last player that Spurs bought came over a year ago, after Lucas Moura transferred from PSG.

Many have assumed this lack of spending comes after Tottenham have spent the majority of their funds on a new stadium, or perhaps it stems from Daniel Levy and Pochettino believing the current crop of players is already good enough.

Whatever the case, Spurs have been competing for the top four and the Champions League this season against clubs with far larger spending powers than themselves.

The likes of Man City, Man United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are simply on another level when it comes to transfer funds.

This video graphic tweeted out by Football London shows club spending year after year, and briefly features Spurs, but they quickly disappear again, highlighting the huge gap.
