‘Crazy things’ – Fabrizio Romano says Spurs will work on hijacking deal ‘until the final minute’

Fabrizio Romano has now provided a comprehensive update on how the race for Lucas Bergvall’s signature between Tottenham and Barcelona is unfolding, explaining that the Lilywhites will keep trying to hijack the transfer right up until the 11 pm transfer deadline.

Spurs Web has relayed a whole host of reports over the past 24 hours regarding the race for Bergvall, with the midfielder allegedly yet to make a final decision between Spurs and Barca (Expressen).

Last night, it was Romano who revealed on social media that while the Catalan club are confident of winning the race for the 17-year-old Swedish starlet, Spurs are continuing to reach out to the midfielder’s entourage in an effort to hijack the move.

It was subsequently explained by Mundo Deportivo that in an effort to convince the Djurgardens youngster to come to North London, Tottenham had even promised him that he would go straight into their first-team.

Bergvall hijack is still on the cards for Tottenham

Romano has now provided another update on where things stand in the battle for Bergvall, with the journalist explaining that Spurs are expected to try everything in their power to hijack the deal before the deadline.

He said on his YouTube channel: “While I’m speaking for Lucas Bergvall. What happened? The boy is in Barcelona with his family, we know Barcelona have an agreement with the club to sign the player next summer for €10m (£8m).

“But it is important to say that Tottenham are still calling the boy every single hour trying to convince Lucas Bergvall and to hijack the deal.

Barcelona have had very advanced talks and are trying to get the greenlight from the player.

“Tottenham are trying to hijack this move in every possible way, calling the player, calling the family, offering an important contract, and it’s also true that Bergvall has been in London a few days ago to visit Tottenham.

“While I’m speaking Barcelona are confident, but Tottenham, until the final minute, will hope. I will keep you posted. Crazy things are always there on deadline day and maybe a potential hijack.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Having missed out on top talent in Antonio Nusa, it sounds like Spurs are doing everything in their power to ensure that they get Bergvall through the door before the 11 pm deadline. However, it certainly appears as if Barca are still the clear favourites for the teenager’s signature.
