‘Crisis over – Gary Lineker sums up Spurs’ comeback in thirteen-word tweet

Gary Lineker took to Twitter soon after Tottenham Hotspur’s dramatic victory at Bournemouth to claim that it was a case of ‘crisis over’ at the north London club.

Tottenham had come into the fixture at the Vitality Stadium having suffered defeats to Manchester United and Newcastle United in the space of a week.

Initially, it looked as if Antonio Conte’s side were on their way to a third consecutive loss after the Cherries went 2-0 ahead courtesy of a goal in each half from Kieffer Moore and were struggling to create any clear cut opportunities at the other end of the pitch.

Tottenham left it late to respond and Conte’s substitutions helped to have the desired impact with the visitors taking control of the game and got a lifeline when Ryan Sessegnon found the bottom corner in the 57nd minute.

Questionable goalkeeping from Mark Travers saw Ben Davies head in from an Ivan Perisic corner fifteen minutes later, and it was a set piece from the other side from Heung-min Son that saw Rodrigo Bentancur bundle the ball into the back of the net at the second attempt to round off the comeback.

If it were not for Bentancur’s goal, the mood among the fans and the tone in the media would have been completely different ahead of the trip to Marseille on Monday. Sometimes a bounce of a ball, in the case of where it landed for Bentancur can be the difference in setting the tone for the upcoming matches.
