Crisitan Romero sends unifying 50-word message to Tottenham fans after Champions League celebrations

Cristian Romero has sent an interesting message on social media after Tottenham secured direct progression to the Champions League’s round of 16.

Spurs needed a win to guarantee themselves a top-eight finish in the Champions League, and they delivered a professional performance to overcome Frankfurt 2-0 away from home.

It was the Lilywhites’ first away win in the Champions League this season, and it means that they can now put the competition on the back burner until March and focus on their domestic form for the time being.

The win comes at an important time for Spurs, as pressure was mounting on Thomas Frank, and the club captain has now sent a crucial message to the supporters.

Cristian Romero stresses the need for Tottenham fans and players to stick together

The relationship between the club and the fans has been strained this season, with the team regularly being booed off the pitch.

On the back of delivering a Man of the Match performance at Frankfurt, Romero has taken to social media to thank the supporters who made the trip to Germany, and insisted that the team can come through this difficult spell if everyone sticks together.

The centre-back said on X: “Fantastic away win to reach the next round. It’s a difficult moment, but if we stay united, we’ll get through it together. I just want to thank all the fans who travelled with us today away from home and always support us, and also everyone who stayed back supporting us.”

Why the game against Man City may be coming at the right time for Spurs

While it is never a good time to play a team as good as Man City, the players will take some confidence from their performance against Frankfurt.

Additionally, we have seen that the Tottenham players are under much more pressure at home when they play relatively weaker sides, as the home crowd expects them to dominate proceedings and create chances.

The home fans will be a lot more accepting of playing on the counter-attack against Man City, and one would expect them to get behind the side on Sunday.
