Following his masterclass against Eintracht Frankfurt, Cristian Romero has now hit back at his Tottenham critics with a bold message – “let them tell it however they want”
After watching Thursday’s encounter between Tottenham Hotspur and Eintracht Frankfurt, you’d be forgiven for wondering why these sorts of performances have been so rare.
It was that good. Every single Tottenham player on the pitch could’ve walked away with a man of the match award, but there was one standout.
Cristian Romero. The Argentine defender was immense, and after coming under fire for his error-strewn outing against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Spurs fans are starting to change their tune on Romero.

Cristian Romero silences Tottenham critics with Europa League showing
A bit of a feel-good factor has crept back into the club, and with just three more wins separating Tottenham from Europa League glory, the dream is very much alive.
Bodo/Glimt await Spurs in the semi-finals and while nothing is guaranteed, there’s now renewed belief in this squad. But as ever, focus is key.
Romero, one of the standout performers against Eintracht Frankfurt, took to X after the game to praise the unity in the Tottenham camp – and he didn’t hold back in his message.
He tweeted: “Semifinalllllllll Just like today, as a family Spursl And let them tell it however they want. Come on, lpm.”
Spurs need Romero at his best for Europa League run-in
The defender put in a proper captain’s shift, setting the tone with his mentality and leadership – exactly what you expect from a top player, especially after the disasterclass earlier in the week.
Spurs still have plenty to fight for this season, and if they’re going to go all the way in the Europa League, they’ll need Romero firing on all cylinders.
It’s been a rollercoaster of a campaign, but if this group can channel the highs and cut out the lows, there’s still time for something special, and Romero will be key to that.
