Cristian Romero opens up on ‘disaster’ going on at Tottenham after boos, protests, and more dropped points

Cristian Romero has given a brutally honest interview on the state of affairs at Tottenham Hotspur after a 2-1 defeat to West Ham.

Tottenham Hotspur have a poor record at home in the Premier League this season. Following a 2-1 loss to West Ham, they have now suffered six home defeats, yet have only recorded two victories at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was a truly disappointing evening for Tottenham, as the visitors took the lead early into the game before Cristian Romero fired back.

However, West Ham found a way to get the win with a stoppage-time goal, leaving Spurs fans wondering when things are ever going to get better.

Cristian Romero makes a confession about Tottenham

Despite Romero’s headed equaliser, he was unable to get his team anything from the game as his side’s overall performance was not good enough.

The Spurs captain has acknowledged that this is a difficult time for the club and he has even branded the current situation a ‘disaster’.

Following the defeat to West Ham, Romero told BBC Sport: “In this moment we need to stay together, work hard, come back tomorrow to the training ground. It’s a disaster in this moment for us.

“Thank you to the fans for always staying with us. Tomorrow we will train in silence, work hard again, midweek we have another big match.

“At this moment this is a disaster for us. We played sometimes good, sometimes bad. We must work hard and go again. It’s a difficult moment for us. We are not the best on the pitch.”

Spurs have very little time to turn things around

Now is the time for Tottenham to regroup and consider what went wrong against West Ham, but they must also look ahead to their upcoming Champions League fixture.

Spurs will once again play at home and this time the visitors are Bundesliga heavyweights Borussia Dortmund. When things are as bad as they are at the moment, it can take time to bounce back. Therefore, the Dortmund game could end being a continuation of the disaster Romero has described.

After Tottenham fan protests before the West Ham game and boos at both half-time and full-time, Spurs are in desperate need of a statement performance to arrest the slide.
