Tottenham Hotspur fans will be delighted with Cristian Romero’s latest social media post, with the Argentine sending a big hint about a possible stay at Spurs beyond the summer transfer window.
Despite Tottenham’s historic Europa League success, reports from Spain continue to indicate that the club’s vice-captain is expected to leave this summer.
It was claimed by Marca a couple of days ago that Romero had already informed Daniel Levy of his wish to join Atletico Madrid, who are ready to begin negotiations with the North London club.
When asked directly about his future after the win in Bilbao, Romero refused to commit his future to Spurs, with the centre-back stating that he cannot clarify all the rumours spread by the media.

Cristian Romero wants Tottenham to “stay together”
Tottenham Hotspur fans who may have been resigned to the centre-back leaving the club have now been given renewed hope that he might stay as the 27-year-old has taken to social media to send a very interesting message to the supporters.
Romero expressed his delight at making history at Tottenham and the defender also stressed the need for the squad to stay together and to continue on this path.
The centre-back’s post reads: “We achieved what we wanted this season as a group, and that’s what matters and….My name is part of the history of this beautiful club @spursofficial. I want to thank you all for the love and support every day, despite everything, but I have no doubt that staying together led us to success. We must continue; this is the path.”
Ange Postecoglou’s warning to Spurs about Romero
In his final press conference of the season on Sunday, the Tottenham head coach stressed the importance of hanging onto the Argentine centre-back.
Postecoglou warned Daniel Levy that Romero is irreplaceable for Spurs, given his qualities as a player as well as the leadership he offers.
This statement from the former Juventus man indicates that there might be room for Tottenham to convince him to stay and tie him down to a new contract.
