Cristian Stellini explains Richarlison’s absence against Preston

Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Cristian Stellini has been commenting on Richarlison’s absence from the match day squad against Preston North End this evening.

The Brazilian was spotted watching the club’s Under 21 side in action last night and more specifically, his compatriot Lucas Moura while the rest of Antonio Conte’s squad had jetted off to Blackpool airport ahead of tonight’s FA Cup fourth round tie.

Stellini has insisted that Richarlison’s absence is not due to a big problem and will only be out for a matter of days, with Tottenham not back in action until next Sunday when they host Premier League champions Manchester City in north London.

The former Everton striker has experienced an injury hit campaign which has limited his impact during his time with Tottenham.

Stellini told Football.London’s Alasdair Gold: “Richarlison is not available today, it’s not a big problem, so we have only to wait some days.”

It is frustrating that Richarlison is once again out, this would have been the ideal type of match for him to build some fitness and also some confidence in front of goal ahead of the visit of Man City.
